Von dem zwölf polnischen Nationalparks ist der von Białowieża, der sich auch auf sowjetischem Gebiet fortsetzt, der älteste. Berühmt ist das Urwaldgebiet vor allem wegen der hier gezüchteten und gehegten reinrassigen Wisente
